Egypt to unveil post-IMF economic vision in September: PM

Egypt will present a draft of its post-IMF economic vision in early September, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said Wednesday, as the government finalises a long-term development strategy through 2030 aimed at revitalising key sectors and setting clear economic targets.

The new vision, described as a comprehensive roadmap for Egypt’s economic future, will outline priorities beyond the current International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme. It is set to include measurable targets and indicators to be achieved over the next five years.

Speaking at a weekly press conference, Prime Minister Madbouly said the Cabinet will review the document next week ahead of its public release. The draft will be opened for two months of national dialogue to gather input from stakeholders and the broader public.

“The government is committed to finalising the document before the end of the year,” the prime minister said. “It will lay out clear paths for economic growth and development priorities for the coming phase.”

The updated “Egypt Vision 2030” is built on detailed strategies for key economic drivers including industry, tourism, agriculture, ICT, and services. It also incorporates outcomes from the previous 2030 strategy, the national dialogue process, and expert recommendations.

Prime Minister Madbouly emphasised that the document aims to ensure economic sustainability and resilience, positioning Egypt to navigate the post-IMF period with a clear, actionable framework.
