Egypt unveils 9-meter-long hidden tunnel inside Great Pyramid of Giza

Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced on Thursday that a nine-meter long hidden passageway was discovered inside the Great Pyramid of Giza, as it could lead to further discoveries.

The hidden discovery has made by researchers from the Scan Pyramid Project, a multinational study using the latest scientific equipment in infrared thermography, photogrammetry, 3D scanners and software reconstruction.

Mostafa Waziri, the head of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities said that the tunnel was likely constructed as a functional architectural feature to relieve the weight of the pyramid or possibly on either side of the main entrance.

Issa emphasised the continued work and scientific research using sophisticated and perfectly secure technological and scientific methods to uncover more secrets of Egypt’s ancient civilization.
