Egypt welcomes over 105k Palestinians for medical care amid Gaza crisis – minister

In the midst of the devastating Gaza crisis, Egypt has received over 105,321 Palestinian patients, including 6,503 injured individuals, offering them critical medical support, Minister of Health, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a working dinner hosted by the Egyptian-British Business Association (BEBA), Minister Abdel Ghaffar highlighted Egypt’s extensive healthcare response, with 164 hospitals across the country mobilised to treat incoming patients. Since the onset of the crisis on October 7, 2023, medical teams have performed 2,190 surgical procedures to address critical injuries.

Children remain a top priority, with over 12,764 receiving essential healthcare, vaccinations, and specialised treatment. To protect them against disease, more than 17,219 vaccine doses have been administered, reinforcing Egypt’s commitment to safeguarding the health of Gaza’s most vulnerable amid worsening humanitarian conditions, the minister added.

As the crisis escalates, Egypt continues to serve as a vital medical and logistical lifeline, providing urgent relief to Palestinian civilians in dire need of care.
