Egypt wheat imports by jump 34% in 2023

Egypt’s wheat imports increased by 34 percent year on year during the first half of the current year, according to an official document.

Since the beginning of the year, Egypt received 5.66 million tons of wheat, up from 4.22 million tons during the same period the year before.

Egypt is the world’s largest wheat importer, purchasing up to 12 million tons per year for the public and private sectors.
