Egypt’s exports of building materials captured 27 percent, representing $5 billion out of total non-petroleum exports in 2016, said Industry and Trade Minister Tarek Qabil on Friday.
“The sector (building materials) includes nine industrial sectors; cement, marble, granite, insulating materials, refractory materials, ceramic, sanitary materials, paper weight, and quarry industries,” Qabil further stated.
The Egyptian minister added that the strategy of developing building materials sector, which aims at making Egypt a regional centre to produce and export building materials and increase the private sector’s opportunity in the national economy.
The strategy focuses on five mega axes, including developing infrastructure and exports, training manpower, and supporting for small and medium-sized enterprises and industrial complexes, Qabil said.
