Egyptian Competition Authority approves AngloGold Ashanti’s acquisition of Centamin

The Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) has approved AngloGold Ashanti plc‘s acquisition of Centamin plc, a critical step in the transaction, according to a recent disclosure to the London Stock Exchange.

Initially announced on 10 September 2024, the deal will proceed via a court-sanctioned scheme of arrangement under Jersey Companies Law.

The ECA’s approval meets a key condition outlined in the scheme document provided to Centamin shareholders. AngloGold Ashanti now awaits the satisfaction of the remaining conditions, including final approval from the Jersey Court.
