Egyptian economist warns against hoarding during Ramadan

Egyptian economist Dr Medhat Nafei on Thursday highlighted an improvement in core monthly inflation rates, attributing it to a combination of monetary and fiscal policies implemented in the past period.

In a Facebook post, he urged consumers to avoid behaviours such as excessive consumption and hoarding during the holy month, which could negatively impact overall inflation. Instead of preparing Ramadan supply bags for the entire month, he recommended providing daily or weekly necessities to those in need through dated exchange coupons to prevent pressure on commodity stocks.
