The Egyptian-European Business Council, led by Mohamed Abou El Enein, will hold a meeting today to discuss the opportunities of boosting the Italian investments in the Egyptian market, in the presence of the Italian ambassador to Cairo, Maurizio Massari, and a number of the European Union’s ambassadors along with Egyptian and foreign investors.
The meeting will look into the ways of maximizing the Italian role in supporting Egypt economically, so that Egypt can pass the current transitional period. It also will look into the methods of utilizing the promising opportunities and cooperation fields between the two countries; particularly the efforts of establishing an Italian industrial zone in Egypt and encouraging the Italian investment to take part in the national projects; such like developing Suez Canal and North Coast…etc.
Furthermore, the meeting will discuss the ways of increasing the number of Italian tourists, establishing an Italian university in Egypt, as well as looking into the fields of cooperation in energy, whether petroleum, gas or petrochemicals, and renewable energy. In addition, the possibility of having an Italian participation in re-operating Nasr Car Company will be discussed.
Italy is the first European commercial partner to Egypt, and the second partner on the global level, after the USA. It is largest source of investment, tourism and technical and technological cooperation to Egypt. Italy also was the first European country that President Morsi visited in September 2012.
