Egyptian film producer Nahed Farid Shawqi dies at 72

Egyptian female film producer Nahed Farid Shawqi passed away on Tuesday at the age of 72, actress Ayah Samaha said on X.

In her tweet, Samaha mourned Shawqi, calling her a “second mother.”

She also provided details on the funeral.

Shawqi was a prominent film producer whose works included Ahmed Zaki‘s Hysteria (1998) as well as an Egyptian adaptation of Les Misérables in 1978.

She was the daughter of Egyptian actor Farid Shawqi and actress Huda Sultan. She is the mother of actress Nahed El Sebai.
