Sisi introduces ‘MEKO A-200’ at EDEX 2023

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi introduced on Monday the “MEKO A-200” Egyptian Frigate during the opening of the third edition of Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX 2023), taking place at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre (EIEC).

The “MEKO A-200” Frigate was entirely made by Egyptians at the Alexandria Shipyard.

Moreover, Ashraf Atwa, Commander of the Egyptian Navy Lieutenant General, in the light of the all-Egyptian “MEKO A-200” frigate inauguration, presented a souvenir to President al-Sisi.

Mohamed Zaki, Minister of Defense, explained that the timing of the event is significant as it is in line with the ongoing conflicts and wars occurring in different areas of the world.

Furthermore, Abdel-Latif, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), affirmed that AOI’s participation in the event is consistent with both its strategy and the Egyptian objectives, and vision.

About EDEX 2023

The show is the only defence and security event that covers both Africa and the Middle East, according to the EDEX official website.

The largest event in Africa was organised by Arabian Word Events, the Egyptian Ministry of Defence and Military Production, and the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI).

The exhibition is set to attract 35,00 visitors, including high-level military delegations from over 100 countries.

It also features 22 pavilions displaying the latest in land, sea, and air military technology from over 400 demonstrating companies from 46 countries.

The exhibition will include defence technology from Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Czechia, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, South Korea, Ukraine, the UAE, and the U.S.
