Egypt’s Agiba Petroleum boosts Western Desert output to 12,000 BOE/D

Agiba Petroleum Co. has increased production in Egypt’s Western Desert, raising output in the Iris and Arcadia West areas to 12,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d), the ministry of petroleum and mineral resources said Monday.

The ministry said the boost followed the connection of the Iris-5 well, which produces 2,000 barrels per day. Agiba also made a new discovery at the Dorra well, where drilling confirmed promising petroleum indicators in the same formation. Preparations are underway to bring the Dorra well into production, highlighting the extension of productive geological structures into previously unexplored areas.

The ministry added that collaboration with Italy’s Eni, using advanced technologies and three-dimensional seismic surveys, has expanded the development potential of the Western Desert. This partnership has increased the value of the Masajid formation, contributing to the Iris and Arcadia West discoveries and supporting higher production, reshaping earlier assessments of the formation.
