Egypt’s Al-Wazir leads private sector delegation to Iraq
Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, on Monday met with top Iraqi officials in Baghdad to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure projects. The talks focused on Egypt’s involvement in major infrastructure developments, with Egyptian companies offering expertise in these areas.
The discussions highlighted Egypt’s interest in contributing to Iraq’s Development Corridor and Grand Faw Port projects. Al-Wazir, who led a delegation of 13 major Egyptian infrastructure companies, expressed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Iraq’s infrastructure needs, particularly in areas like railways, ports, and housing.
Iraq’s Minister of Transport emphasised the importance of Egypt’s participation, noting ongoing projects like the 1,200 km railway linking Iraq to Turkey and the highway from Al-Faw to Europe.
Both sides discussed expanding cooperation, with Iraqi officials praising Egypt’s successful implementation of similar projects in the Arab world. Additionally, talks touched on boosting Arab Bridge Maritime Company operations and expanding Egyptian expertise in land transport and manufacturing.
