Egypt’s central bank to host major Arab banking summit on Oct 1
Under the sponsorship of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) is hosting the 48th Annual Meeting of the Council of Governors of Arab Central Banks and Monetary Authorities in Cairo on October 1.
A high-level workshop on strengthening the resilience and stability of the financial system in the digital age will precede the meeting on September 30.
The event will feature high-profile speakers, including Egyptian prime minister Moustafa Madbouly, CBE governor Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Saudi Central Bank Ayman Al-Sayari, and Fahad Alturki – Director-General of the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF). Delegates from Arab central banks, financial institutions, and government agencies will attend.
Key topics on the agenda include:
- Monetary policy in an uncertain environment
- Private sector debt and financial stability
- Central banks’ role in addressing climate change
- Regulation of artificial intelligence in the financial sector
- Technical committee outcomes and reports
