Egypt’s CIT minister inaugurates Huawei’s new HQ
Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology (CIT), Amr Talaat, inaugurated Huawei’s new headquarters in Cairo on Saturday as part of the company’s strategy to expand in Egypt.
Minister Talaat noted that Egypt’s IT sector is attracting increasing global investment, with outsourcing exports rising by 54 per cent in one year. He emphasised that Huawei’s expansion reflects Egypt’s growing reputation as a regional outsourcing and technology hub, supported by local training initiatives that aim at building a skilled digital workforce.
Notably, Huawei has supported Egypt’s digital transformation since 2000 and now provides over 2,700 jobs, including more than 900 specialists at its 24/7 Global Service Center. Around 30 per cent of its employees are from outside Cairo.
