Egypt’s El Sewedy Electric clinches deal to build electricity network in Toshka

Egypt’s cable maker El Sewedy Electric signed on Sunday an agreement with Upper Egypt Electricity Distribution Co. to build an external electricity network over 40,000 feddans in Toshka.

The project will be implemented at an estimated cost worth 100 million Egyptian pounds ($6.3 million), including consulting, design, supervision, implementation, and installation works, according to a statement by the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy on Sunday.

Under the deal, the external electricity network will be established by Elsewedy Electric for Trading and Distribution, a 99.9 percent-owned subsidiary of Elsewedy Electric Co., with completion scheduled to be in early October.

The electricity ministry is taking the necessary measures for the project implementation as part of the first phase of the South Valley Development Project in Toshka, with a capacity of 50 megavolt amperes.
