Egypt’s exports of engineering industries registered a record high of $459 million in February, up 33 per cent from $345 million during the same month of 2023, Amwal Al Ghad Arabic reported on Tuesday.

The engineering industries sector saw a record increase in exports in February 2024, building on the positive results of 2023 when exports surpassed $4 billion for the first time. This success validates the effectiveness of the export growth strategies.

The Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE) aims to boost exports by 10-15 per cent in 2024 by leveraging the potential of Egyptian engineering industries, the report added.

This strategy includes participating in international exhibitions, adhering to new exhibition regulations, organising trade missions, and hosting foreign trade weeks, EECE executive director May Helmy said.

Helmy added that engineering exports play a key role in achieving sustainable export growth and support the state’s strategy to boost commodity exports and meet ambitious export targets.

The engineering sector is identified as a promising export sector that significantly contributes to job creation and adds value to local manufacturing, while it also maintains to enjoy a strong reputation in global markets.
