Egypt’s exports of gold, jewelry, and precious stones dropped by 45 percent to reach $425 million during the first five months of 2023, down from $766 million during the same period in 2022, a recent report showed on Wednesday.
Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory, and Metallurgy Industries (ECBM) added in the report that Egypt has exported gold, jewelry and precious stones to 37 countries during those five months.
During that period, Canada imported $309 million worth of gold, jewelry, and precious stones from Egypt.
Moreover, UAE’s imports from Egypt’s gold and precious stones were valued at $110 million.
Egypt’s exports of gold and other precious stones and jewelry to the U.S. reached $1.604 billion.
