Egypt’s National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) and the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports agreed to strengthen cooperation on food safety and trade facilitation, the NFSA said on Thursday.
NFSA head Tarek El-Houby met with ports authority chairman Sayed Metwally to discuss applying food safety standards to imports and exports through land and dry ports, improving inspection efficiency, and ensuring rapid clearance for compliant shipments while safeguarding public health.
Both sides stressed the importance of collaboration, data sharing, and joint operational mechanisms aligned with international standards. They also agreed to form working teams and draw up a plan for future cooperation in shared areas of interest.
