Egypt’s FRA reports less capital market activities in H1 – report

The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) reported a noticeable decline in Egypt’s capital market activities in its recent monthly report.

According to the report, the issued share capital in May declined to 24,763.1 million Egyptian pounds, compared to 47,857.3 million Egyptian pounds in May 2023, marking a 48.3 per cent decrease. Meanwhile, the value of securities assets in May rose to 2,223.0 million Egyptian pounds, compared to 8,057.2 million Egyptian pounds, marking a 262.4 per cent increase.

The total value of issuances in the financial market reached 122.3 billion Egyptian pounds, reflecting a significant decrease from the previous figure of 261.2 billion Egyptian pounds, representing a 113.6 per cent decline.

Additionally, the total number of stock issuances fell from 1,373 to 1,176, marking a 16.8 per cent decrease. However, the number of issuances for securities other than stocks increased, rising from 9 to 13, reflecting a 44.4 per cent increase. In total, the overall number of issuances in the market reached 1,189, compared to 1,382 in the previous period.
