Egypt’s GDP to grow 34% if economic full gender equality achieved: Maya Morsy

Maya Morsy, President of the Egyptian National Council for Women (NCW), said on Sunday that if women labour participation rate matched that of men, Egypt’s GDP would increase by 34 percent.

Morsy made these remarks at the second annual Women Professionals Summit (WPS) taking place in Cairo under the auspices of Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly.

“We also have now a bigger women representation in the Egyptian Parliament of up to 28 percent compared with 2 percent in 2012,” the Egyptian official added.

The Summit is powered by Top 50 Women Forum and Amwal Al Ghad Magazine in collaboration with the National Council for Women (NCW) and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.
