Egypt’s grain imports fell to $1.9 billion in the first four months of 2023, compared with $2.3 billion in the same period in 2022, recording a decrease of 20.4 percent, the country’s official statistics agency (CAPMAS) reported on Thursday.
The north African country has imported about $51.4 million worth of rice, $15.7 million of non-seed corn, $2.6 million of shamia corn, and $1.3 million of sargum, the report added.
Russia is the largest supplier of $982.7 million, followed by Ukraine with $315.3 million, and Brazil with $266.7 million, the data showed.
