Suez Canal pushes $143.8 bln into Egypt’s public treasury

The Suez Canal pumped more than $143.864 billion into the state’s public treasury since its nationalisation in 1956, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), Osama Rabie, said on Wednesday.

Rabie also said that the number of vessels that crossed the canal in the past 67 years reached around 1.71 million vessels, with a total net tonnage of up to 31.599 billion tons.

The Suez Canal recorded the highest annual revenues in its history in fiscal year (FY) 2022/2023, with around $9.4 billion.
