Egypt’s Mashat, JICA head discuss expanding cooperation

Egypt’s Minister of Planning Rania Al-Mashat has held a meeting with Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Hara Shohei on the sidelines of TICAD 9 in Yokohama to discuss expanding cooperation in new sectors.
The two sides reviewed a joint report, “Egypt-JICA Cooperation: 70 Years of Friendship and Trust”, which highlights areas of partnership supporting Egypt’s development priorities.
Al-Mashat said the government aims to broaden collaboration into advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and industrial localisation, leveraging Japanese expertise.
Talks also covered strengthening strategic relations, with Al-Mashat stressing Egypt’s commitment to empowering the private sector, attracting Japanese financial institutions, and advancing multilateral partnerships to boost foreign direct investment.
