Egypt’s Mashroak finances 221k projects in decade

Egypt’s national development programme Mashrook has financed about 221,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) since its launch in 2015, providing loans worth more than 34.1 billion Egyptian pounds, the government said on Sunday.

The Cabinet said the initiative had created around 1.46 million direct and indirect jobs for young people and women across villages, towns and cities as of the end of July 2025.

The programme, part of efforts to support SMEs as a driver of growth and employment, is being expanded to reach more beneficiaries, the government said. It will also provide training, technical advice and marketing support to entrepreneurs.

Work is currently underway to expand the initiative to include more beneficiaries, alongside providing technical and marketing consultations as well as training for youth and women.
