Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs follows up preparations for WUF hosting
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday held a meeting to discuss preparations for the country’s hosting of the 12th round of the World Urban Forum (WUF) in Cairo from November 4 to 8, 2024. Representatives from various government agencies and the UN-Habitat Programme attended the meeting.
The meeting, led by Hamdy Shaaban, Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation, focused on completing preparations and maximizing the benefits of hosting the forum. Officials evaluated the progress made by all involved ministries and institutions and emphasized the importance of representing Egypt’s global stature and addressing critical global issues.
The meeting also discussed how to capitalise on hosting the event in terms of urban development. Egypt’s significant urban revival in the past decade presents an opportunity to showcase its achievements, promote real estate exports, and attract investments.
The meeting highlighted the importance of private sector participation in showcasing their capabilities and expertise. This can lead to expanded partnerships and increased presence in international markets, particularly in Arab and African countries.
