Egypt’s non-oil imports dropped 21 percent last September, the General Organization for Import and Export Control (GOEIC) said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the GOEIC said the value of imports reached $5.110 billion from $6.491 billion in the same period last year.
Imports of building materials went down by 33 percent reaching 7$31 million in September this year, compared with $1.089 billion in the past year, it added.
Also, imports of ready-made clothes went down 27 percent, registering $46 million versus $63 million.
Imports of furniture went down 26 percent to reach $135 million from $181 million while imports of leather products dropped 24 percent reaching $15 million against $20 million, according to the statement
