Egypt’s Plastic Exports Register EGP8.6 bln in 2013

Khaled Abou El Makarem, Chairman, The Egyptian Plastic Federation – Egyptian Industrial Federation and Board Member, Egyptian Plastic Exporters & Manufacturers Association (EPEMA) revealed that the Egyptian exports from plastics recorded EGP8.6 billion in 2013.

He pointed out that the plastic sector is 30% from Packaging operations in Egypt 2013, noting that it will boost in the current year to become 40% with 10% flat growth.

He emphasized that the sector succeeded to export paper products with EGP418 million, and EGP271 million Glasses in 2013, noting that the numbers of firms which are operating in packaging sector became around 325 with EGP5.9 billion investments and this according to the latest statistics of 2011.

He added during his participation in German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GACIC) conference that it is schedule for the Egyptian firms to take part in Interpark trade fair in Germany that may be hold by the next May in order to introduce the latest mechanisms.

He further stated that the numbers of using packaging boosted  from 11 million tons in 1995 to 40 million tons as a plastic packaging in 2013.
