Egypt’s SEMAF plant delivers 80 metro cars – cabinet

Egypt’s Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) celebrated on Monday the successful production of 10 air-conditioned metro trains (80 cars) by its subsidiary SEMAF, in collaboration with the South Korea’s Hyundai Rotem.

Mukhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of AOI, praised the continued partnership with Hyundai Rotem for their outstanding metro car manufacturing.

SEMAF factory and Hyundai Rotem have a longstanding partnership in manufacturing metro cars for Cairo’s metro lines since the eighties of last century.

Abdel Latif highlighted SEMAF factory’s success in increasing the local manufacturing component and adopting the latest technologies for metro car production, while adhering to the standards of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

He expressed AOI’s commitment to establishing strategic partnerships and looks forward to continuing co-operation with Hyundai Rotem to leverage Korean expertise in metro car manufacturing.

Jin Hee Chang, regional director of Hyundai Rotem Korea, praised AOI for their outstanding performance, emphasising their efficiency, quality commitment, and punctuality. He also noted their after-sales service capabilities.

Chang looks forward to continuing successful collaboration with SEMAF Factory and exploring joint ventures in advanced manufacturing.
