Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority (SCA) is in advanced talks with Canada’s IMGS Group and China’s FAMSUN to set up a global food logistics hub in Port Fouad, Chairman Osama Rabie said on Sunday.
The planned partnership aims to bolster food security and make use of the Canal’s strategic location, Rabie said, adding that a cooperation protocol is expected to be signed soon to outline roles, complete technical and financial studies, and move towards implementation.
The SCA is seeking to expand value-added logistics projects that contribute to Egypt’s development goals and enhance the Canal’s role beyond shipping, Rabie added.
IMGS specialises in cargo handling and port services, while FAMSUN provides agricultural technology solutions, agri-industrial manufacturing, and designs storage silos for grains and oils.
