Egypt’s Suez Canal revenues hit record $6.3 billion in 2021

Egypt’s revenues from the Suez Canal reached a new record of $6.3 billion for 2021, the highest annual yearly ever, said the canal’s authority chairman Osama Rabie said on Sunday.

The vital waterway also broke its highest yearly tonnage record with 1.27 billion tonnes in 2021, Rabie added.

The number of vessels passing through the canal climbed by 10 percent to 20,694 in 2021 from 18,830 in 2020.
