Egypt’s government is planning to complete the development of 351 unsafe slums at the end of 2018, said Deputy Minister of Housing Ahmed Darwish on Monday.
Darwish further added that these areas represent one percent of slums number and 40 percent of urban in Egypt.
“There are high overpopulation ranging between 850,000 and one million citizens in these areas,” he noted.
“Cairo is currently developing 72 slums and building 63,000 housing units for slums-dwellers,” Darwish concluded.
