FIFA has sent a formal letter to Egyptian football club Zamalek ordering its management to immediately pay the team’s former Brazilian player Ricardo Alves Fernandes all his fees or the team may lose points in the domestic league.
“Zamalek has not acted in accordance with the Arbitral Award passed by the court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on 20 September 2016,” the world governing body said in its letter.
“This would appear to be a violation of Article 64 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, and as such it will be the subject of an investigation by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
“We are therefore opening disciplinary proceedings against the club Zamalek FC in respect of a violation of article 64 of the FDC … Disciplinary measures (fine, deduction of points, relegation to a lower league) may be imposed on the club.”
FIFA said that Zamalek should pay Fernandes the following outstanding amounts and send a copy of proof of payment:
– $63,220 and EGP 11,400 as outstanding remuneration plus 5 percent interest to be calculated in accordance with the decision passed by the dispute Resolution Chamber on 10 April 2015.
– $425,000 as compensation for breach of contract plus 5 percent interest to be calculated in accordance with the decision passed by the dispute Resolution Chamber on 10 April 2015.
– CHF 4,000 as a contribution towards legal fees and other expenses incurred in connection with the arbitration proceedings.
FIFA said that Zamalek should pay all outstanding amounts by 26 October 2017 at the latest and send copies of proof of the payment by the same deadline. Source: Ahram online
