EIB invests €40m in Spain’s electric motorcycle innovation
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted a €40 million credit facility to Stark Future S.L., a leading company in the premium electric motorcycle industry, to support its research, development, and innovation activities.
Based in Sant Boi de Llobregat, Spain, Stark Future plans to use the funding to scale up its manufacturing capacity and accelerate the production of advanced electric motorcycle models for both off-road and on-road use.
The EIB’s investment will enable Stark Future to implement cutting-edge technologies and expand its product range, contributing to a more sustainable mobility model.
The funding will also support the installation of modern assembly lines and advanced production technologies, enhancing Stark Future’s capacity to meet growing market demand.
This operation is in line with the EIB’s strategic priorities of climate action and technological innovation, reflecting the bank’s role in supporting green transition efforts within the mobility and transport sectors.
According to Yu Zhang, Head of Division at the EIB, “This investment is a clear example of how the EIB is fostering sustainable transport while driving innovation and competitiveness in the European Union.”
Supported under the EU’s InvestEU programme, which aims to mobilise over €372 billion in investment between 2021 and 2027, the EIB’s involvement is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy.
The expansion of Stark Future’s production capacity is anticipated to create skilled jobs in the Sant Boi de Llobregat region, contributing to regional economic growth.
