Environmental groups sue FAA over climate concerns
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was sued Monday by several environment groups over SpaceX rocket launch last month.
The Center for Biological Diversity blamed the FAA for the environmental harm caused by SpaceX activities, adding that FAA should have taken impacts of SpaceX activities on environment into consideration before granting it their license.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reported large metal and stainless-steel objects have been dumped northwest of the launching pad. No injuries or public property damage was reported, however.
An investigation into the incident is held and oversighted by the FAA. In the meanwhile, all SpaceX starships were ordered to remain on ground until the public’s safety is ensured undoubtedly.
Jared Margolis, senior attorney at Center for Biological Diversity highlighted the importance of accommodating modern environmental challenges. “It’s vital that we protect life on Earth even as we look to the stars in this modern era of spaceflight,” Margolis said.
