EU to propose sanctions on Chinese firms for aiding Russia

The European Union (EU) plans to sanction several Chinese firms accused of helping Russia develop attack drones used against Ukraine.

The EU block is also considering restrictions on additional Russian oil tankers to prevent Moscow from bypassing existing measures.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Mao Ning denied on Tuesday the allegations, stating that Beijing opposes unilateral sanctions without a basis in international law.

The EU’s proposed sanctions include listing over 50 individuals and nearly 30 entities, freezing their assets, and imposing travel bans. The measures aim to cut Moscow’s oil revenues and prevent circumvention of a price cap on Russian crude.
