European shares rise on midday

European shares edged higher on Wednesday midday ET as investors awaited the outcome of the US Federal Reserve meeting.

At 7:11 ET (11:11 GMT), the pan-European STOXX 600 index gained 0.25 per cent, reflecting a positive sentiment across most regional indices. London’s FTSE 100 rose by 0.18 per cent, Germany’s DAX climbed 0.48 per cent, and France’s CAC 40 increased by 0.42 per cent.

Meanwhile, Switzerland’s SMI slipped by 0.07 per cent.
