Egyptian fertilizers exports witnessed a leap in January-May 2016, making a growth of 131 percent.
According to the latest report of Egyptian Chemical Export Council (CEC), fertilizers exports recorded 2.05 billion pounds (US$230.9 million) opposed to 886.3 million pounds a year earlier.
Fertilizers sector seized 20 percent of Egypt’s total exports of chemical products by the end of May 2016, the report showed.
Ten firms captured 93.8 percent of total fertilizers exports during the first five months of 2016 with exports worth 1.9 billion pounds.
Egyptian Fertilizers Company (EFC) was the largest exporter since its exports reached 489.9 million, getting 25 percent of the total exports.
Following EFC, Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) attained exports estimated at 316.7 million pounds at the end of May 2016, followed by AlexFert Company whose exports hit 297.4 million pounds.
The report stated that exports of Helwan Fertilizers Company (HFC) recorded 241.2 million pounds, while Abu Zaabal Fertilizer and Chemical Company (AZFC) attained exports worth 99 million pounds.
On other side, the report showed that ten states seized 92 percent of the Egyptian fertilizers exports during January-May 2016 with exports worth 1.9 billion pounds.
