FIFA executive committee member Hani Abou-Reida has been elected the new president of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) on Tuesday, with the 63-year-old given the reins until 2020.
Abou-Reida, who has been North Africa’s representative at the FIFA executive committee since 2009, will replace Galal Allam, who was elected as the EFA chairman in 2012.
He was disqualified from the 2012 elections as he had served two consecutive terms as an EFA official.
The board includes some prominent names such as former Egypt and Zamalek playmaker Hazem Emam and former Ahly and Egypt defensive midfielder Magdi Abdel-Ghani.
Sahar El-Hawary, Hazem El-Hawary, Karam Kordi, Khaled Latif, Seif Zaher, Mohamed Abou El-Wafa, Ahmed Megahed and Essam Abdel-Fattah are the other elected members.
