Foreign investors pour EGP 1.772t into Egyptian T-Bills

Foreign investors increased their holdings of Egyptian Treasury bills in May, reaching 1.772 trillion Egyptian pound by the end of May, compared to 1.697 trillion pound in April, according to Information and Decision Support Centre (IDSC) citing Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) data.

The report showed a slight decrease in domestic banks’ Treasury bill investments. Private sector banks held 505.8 billion pound, down from 520.5 billion pound in April, while public sector banks reduced their holdings to 243.6 billion pound.

While, foreign bank branches increased their investments slightly from 28.1 billion pound in April to 28.2 billion pounds in May. Specialised banks also experienced a modest growth in Treasury bill holdings, rising from 68.2 billion pound to 69.3 billion pound.
