Georgia-Russia trade falls 5% in Jan-July

Trade turnover between Georgia and Russia totalled over $1.4 billion in the first seven months of 2024, marking a 5 per cent decrease compared to the same period last year, according to TASS citing data from the National Statistics Service of Georgia.

Russia remains Georgia’s second-largest trade partner, accounting for 11.4 per cent of the country’s total external trade volume.

Georgian exports to Russia were valued at over $407 million, down 2 per cent year-on-year, while imports from Russia amounted to more than $1 billion, a 6 per cent decline.

Turkey led as Georgia’s largest trade partner, with mutual trade turnover surpassing $1.8 billion, up 7 per cent from the previous year. The US ranked third with a trade turnover of over $1 billion, reflecting a 10 per cent decrease year-on-year.
