Hatem Bagato, Egypt’s Higher Presidential Election Commission (HPEC) General Secretary, attends a news conference in Cairo June 24, 2012 to announce the runoff vote results. Egypt’s ruling armed forces were on alert on Sunday as fears of violence mounted as the state election committee was to name the winner of last weekend’s presidential election at 3:00 p.m. (13:00 GMT).
