Hydro to invest €180 mln in new Spanish aluminium recycling plant

Norwegian aluminium manufacturer Hydro plans to invest €180 million ($195.39 million) in a new recycling aluminium plant in Spain. This facility will yield 120,000 metric tons of low-carbon metal, which is needed for Europe’s energy transition initiatives, according to the company’s statement on Thursday.

According to the statement, the plant is set to produce aluminium extrusion ingots for important European markets for consumer durables, building & construction, transport & automotive, and renewable energy installations.

“Hydro’s new state-of-the-art aluminium recycling plant in Torija will be ideally positioned to help customers reach their sustainability goals by offering low-carbon aluminium with a high share of recycled post-consumer scrap,” Eivind Kallevik, the company’s Executive Vice President said.
