ICT, e-commerce drive 23.5% of Malaysia’s GDP in ’23

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and e-commerce sectors played a crucial role in Malaysia’s economy in 2023, contributing a significant 23.5 per cent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), DOSM reported on Thursday.

This amounted to a substantial RM427.7 billion. This significant contribution stemmed from two primary sources: the direct contribution of the ICT industry itself and the contribution of e-commerce activities within sectors beyond ICT.
