India’s industrial growth slows in June – report
India’s industrial output expanded at a slower-than-expected pace of 4.2 per cent year-on-year in June, according to government data released on Monday. This figure fell short of analysts’ forecasts of 5.5 per cent growth.
The slowdown was primarily attributed to a weaker performance in the manufacturing sector, which grew by 2.6 per cent compared to 3.5 per cent in the same period last year.
However, electricity generation and mining sectors continued to exhibit robust growth, expanding by 8.6 per cent and 10.3 per cent, respectively.
Despite the June slowdown, industrial output for the April-June quarter recorded a healthy growth of 5.2 per cent year-on-year, surpassing the previous year’s figure of 4.7 per cent.
