UN’s International Labour Organization (ILO) and Egypt’s Social Fund for Development (SFD) have signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday to support entrepreneurship sector and women in the country.
The MoUs aim to spread the culture of entrepreneurship and free work among women in Egypt to be economically empowered by organising training courses to encourage them to establish small projects or develop their existing ones.
International Labour Organization (ILO) is specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) dedicated to improving labour conditions and living standards throughout the world.
The three MoUs were signed in the presence of Soha Soliman Managing Director – SFD’s Secretary General- and Peter Van Rooij – Director of ILO Decent Work Team for North Africa and ILO Country Office for Egypt, Eritrea, Sudan and South Sudan- on Thursday.
MoUs in Depth
The first MoU includes holding three training courses in Cairo, Minya, Asyut, and Sohag governorates, to train 45 trainers and boost their capabilities to qualify woman for starting small projects.
As pursuant to the first MoU, the trained trainers shall conduct four training courses in Cairo and Alexandria to help 100 women, including 20 women of special needs, who held micro projects to develop their projects.
The second MoU encompasses the execution of three training courses in Greater Cairo to train 75 women, among them 20 women of special needs, to develop and expand their existing projects.
Moreover, the third MoU targets executing a training course in Alexandria for 25 women to develop and expand their existing projects.
