Italian flights to and from Egyptian airports is expected to resume on July 15, Italian Nova News Agency reported on Monday, citing Chairperson of the Egyptian Tourism Federation Ahmed al-Wasef as saying.
Wasef explained that several Egyptian hotels have already received bookings from Italian tourist companies.
Egypt has prepared several measures under the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) health security guidance, as part of efforts to protect tourists and motivate them to visit the North African country, he added.
Egyptian government has also decided to provide foreign airlines with discounts on services, Wasef said. The Ministry of Civil Aviation allocated a 50 percent discount for airport taxes, and a 20 percent discount for ground services at airports in the Red Sea, South Sinai, and Marsa Matrouh governorates.
In addition, the Ministry of Tourism will be offering a 20 percent discount, valid for 15 days, on entry to museums, archaeological sites belonging to the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and on travel visas for travelers arriving on EgyptAir and Air Cairo.
On Saturday, the International Council for Tourism and Travel (ICTT) granted Egypt the “Safe Travel Stamp” after approving the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ health safety regulations to receive foreign tourism.
Earlier this month, Egypt announced that air traffic in all Egyptian airports would resume staring July 1, in accordance with the country’s preventive and precautionary measures to coexist with the coronavirus outbreak. Flight reservations have already reopened in all airline offices.
Egypt has suspended civil aviation traffic on March 19, excluding air cargo flights, charter flights only for tourist groups already in the country who want to return home, international medical flights, and domestic flights.
