The Italian navy rescued a boat full of illegal immigrants near Sicily on Thursday, MENA news agency reported.
The Italian navy said in a statement on Friday that a helicopter found the ship amid high waves. The ship contained 175 illegal immigrants, including six children from Syria, Egypt and Iraq.
The immigrants received medical attention and are all in good condition, except for one, who is suffering from hypothermia.
The 15 crew members on the boat carrying the immigrants were arrested.
Hundreds of Egyptians, in search of better work opportunities, have been caught in similar attempts to migrate to Italy over the past few years. Many have died in boat accidents.
