The Italian opera house Teatro San Carlo is set to take over the iconic Great Pyramids of Giza in what is being touted as “the biggest Italian event ever in Egypt,” which scheduled for October 11th, 2023.
Michele Quaroni, the Italian Ambassador to Egypt, and Amr El Kady, the Egyptian Tourism Authority CEO, made the announcement this week, expressing their hopes of strengthening the economic and touristic relationships between Italy and Egypt.
The global event aims to revive the greatest Italian opera performances in one grand show by the Pyramids, with Italian, international, and Egyptian masterpieces, including opera arias by a slew of yet unannounced superstar soloists.
It is worth mentioning that it will be the first time that stars from the Teatro San Carlo, which was inaugurated in 1737, will perform in Egypt. The Giza performance will be the opera house’s first overseas event since the COVID-19 pandemic.
