Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush halted his presidential campaign Saturday, following a disappointing finish in the South Carolina primary.
The early front-runner for the GOP nomination announced his intention to exit the race at a Saturday rally with supporters in Columbia, S.C. following a poor showing of only about 8% of the vote.
“I’m proud of the campaign we’ve run to unify our country and to advocate conservative solutions that would give more Americans the chance to rise up,” Bush said. “But the people of Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina have spoken, and I really respect their decision. So, tonight, I am suspending my campaign.”
