Jordan’s tourism income for the first ten months of 2024 totalled $6.153 billion, reflecting a 4.4 per cent decline compared to the same period in 2023, according to preliminary data from the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ). The decrease is attributed to a 6.6 per cent drop in the number of inbound tourists.
Despite the overall decline, specific segments of the tourism sector experienced positive growth. Income from Jordanian expatriates rose by 6.2 per cent, while tourism revenue from Arab visitors increased by 11.6 per cent. However, revenue from European, American, and other international tourists reported a downturn.
Additionally, the data revealed a 2 per cent rise in spending by Jordanians on international tourism, which reached $1.657 billion during the first ten months of 2024, up from the same period last year.
